Where would I sleep for a sleep-related clinical trial?

Will I be charged for my participation?

 

No, there is no charge to you for study related procedures or medications. Some studies will provide compensation for time and travel.

 

Will my participation in this study be confidential?

 

All information that you give will be kept strictly confidential. The information collected about you usually will not directly identify you , however, your records may be reviewed by: 

  • the study sponsor

  • people who work with the sponsor on the study

  • Government agencies, such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Research Advisory Panel of California or State Regulatory Agencies

  • Independent Review Board (IRB) which is a group of scientists and non-scientists who review the ethics of research. The goal of the IRB is to protect the rights and welfare of the study subjects.

 

What is HIPAA?

 

A federal government rule that has been issued to protect the privacy of patients. This rule was issued under a law called the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). This rule is designed to protect the confidentiality of your personal health information, which includes existing medical records.
